DESCRIPTION

The main place of worship in Arezzo is the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Donato whose original nucleus dates to the 13th century. 

The external facade is neo-Gothic, while inside are three naves, a polygonal apse, seven glass Windows Painted by Guillaume de Marcillat (in two phases, 1515-17 & 1522-24) and the famous fresco of Saint Mary Magdalen (Affresco della Maddalena) by Piero della Francesca in the left nave. The main altar complex dates to 1362 and the wooden choirstalls were designed by Giorgio Vasari in 1554. Large altarpices by Andrea della Robbia can be found in the Chapel of the Madonna del Conforto
