DESCRIPTION

The Teatro Verdi theatre is located in the centre of Pisa and is one of the most evocative examples of 19th century theatre architecture, with a Neoclassical façade and a large arcade. It was built between 1865 and 1867 thanks to the work of architect Andrea Scala and has one of the larges stages in Italy, with a depth of 26 metres and a width of 32 metres. The stalls area is shaped like a “horseshoe” and accommodates about 900 seats with three rows of boxes and two balcony rows. The wooden truss roof space that supports the vault of the room is very evocative.
