DESCRIPTION
Pianosa Island is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, and is located approximately 15km from Elba Island. It is the only island in the archipelago with no high ground and is overall very flat, triangular in shape, and interposes stretches of rocky coast with sandy beaches. The island has been home to an agricultural penal colony since 1856.
