The series, starring Keri Russell, follows the story of Kate Wyler, an experienced American diplomat who is appointed US Ambassador to the United Kingdom during a serious international crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Principal photography began in early November 2025 and wrapped on June 5, 2026 \u2013 seven months across London, New York City and Tuscany, with English country houses adding a further visual chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Diplomat: Season 4 | Official Teaser | Netflix\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NjA5n52ZbT0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Filming in Lucca and Florence<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The season&#8217;s most spectacular location chapter took place in <strong>Lucca<\/strong> from May 13 to 14, 2026. The production dressed the medieval walled city to recreate an informal intergovernmental G7 summit \u2013 flags, black cars and official banners so convincing that local passersby briefly believed a real diplomatic event was underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Production crews worked across the Palazzo Ducale in Piazza Napoleone, Porta San Pietro, Piazza San Frediano, Piazza Anfiteatro, Piazza Guidiccioni and Via Sant&#8217;Andrea. The Municipality of Lucca formally approved an agreement with the production company to manage permits, road closures and controlled-access zones. The Toscana Film Commission supported the production. Production also visited the Villa Reale di Marlia \u2013 the historic villa and its extraordinary formal gardens just outside Lucca \u2013 and parts of <strong>Florence<\/strong>, where specific locations remain under wraps.
