The Brutalist<\/a><\/em> written and directed by Brady Corbet<\/strong> scored a lengthy 12-minute standing ovation at Venice International Film Festival<\/a> and landed Corbet the Silver Lion award for best director. The Brutalist was filmed for several weeks in Carrara<\/strong>\u00a0on April 2023. The set involved the city\u2019s historic centre, Corso Rosselli, Drogheria Riacci, the Bettogli Quarry and the Corsi Quarry in Colonnata. The cast included Adrien Brody<\/a>, Guy Pearce<\/a> and Felicity Jones<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An historical drama <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The movie chronicles the journey of Hungarian-born Jewish architect L\u00e1szl\u00f3 T\u00f3th (Brody<\/strong>), who emigrates to the United States of America in 1947. Initially forced to toil in poverty, he soon wins a contract that will change the course of the next 30 years of his life. Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Alessandro Nivola and Jonathan Hyde also star in the film, which Corbet co-wrote with his wife Mona Fastvold (\u201cThe Sleepwalker\u201d).

When drafting a formal statement or note of intent, it\u2019s customary to elaborate on a project\u2019s themes\/aesthetic, but following the better part of a decade spent revving the engine to bring this particular story to life, I would instead like to take the opportunity here to thank each and every one of the collaborators that made the \u201cimpossible movie\u201d possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
