Love & Gelato: the movie shot even in Florence is coming soon on Netflix

The American comedy was partly filmed in Florence last year

From 22 June 2022Love & Gelato, the romantic comedy written and directed by the American director Brandon Camp (Something Special, Benji and the John Doe series) will be available on Netflix.

The movie, a film adaptation of a book titled the same name by New York Times bestselling author Jenna Evans Welch, is produced by the Italian company HT Film for Netflix.

The Adventures of Lina

Lina Emerson, an American medical student, to honour the last wish of her mother, who is ill with cancer, finds herself having to make a trip to Italy to find out more about her father. Soon, in contact with an unfamiliar and chaotic country, she is forced to come to terms with her own anxieties and fears, but also to confront her mother’s past, which conceals surprises, but above all some secrets. Fascinated by the country, by fashion and overwhelmed by romantic surprises, Lina will finally learn to look at the world with different eyes.

The Florence locations

The movie was also shot in Florence, for about a week, in June 2021. Numerous locations in the historical centre were involved in the set, including Ponte Vecchio, Piazza Santa Croce, Sant’Ambrogio Market, the Boboli Gardens, Piazza San Pier Maggiore, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Borgo Santi Apostoli, the Porte Sante Cemetery and Piazzale Michelangelo.

Cast

The movie’s protagonist, Lina, is played by the young American actress Susanna Skaggs, known to the general public for her portrayal of Hailey Clark in the drama series Halt and Catch Fire. The cast also includes Angelika Washington, Claudia Stecher, Owen McDonnell and the Italians Valentina Lodovini, Saul Nanni and Tobia De Angelis.
