Italian talents at Berlinale Talents


For its 18th edition, Berlinale Talents has selected 255 talents – 126 women, 123 men, and 6 people who prefer not to specify their gender – from 86 countries. Five of these live and work in Italy. They include director Nazareno Manuel Nicoletti, whose credits include Moi brate – My Brother (Locarno 68) and Up to Down (Karlovy Vary and Visions du Réel); Zelia Zbogar, distributor of Funne, Sea Dreaming Girls and The Hate Destroyer; Alessandro Amato, producer of Maternal and Candie Boy; Liryc Dela Cruz, Philipinnes-born director; and Beniamino Barrese, acclaimed director of The Disappearance of My Mother.

Among the selected talents, four Italians who live abroad: DoP Camilla Topuntoli, living in Sweden; Thomas Kunstler, stop-motion animator based in Greece; Maria A. Ruggieri, China-based sales agent for Asian Shadows; art director Isabella Bruno living in the UK.

The 255 talents will take part in an intense six-days program and 100 events at Hebbel am Ufer, from February 22 to 27.
