DESCRIPTION

The underground walls of Lucca were born for defensive and military purposes were built between 1513 and 1650. Four kilometers and two hundred meters long, at their highest points they reach twelve meters in height, with a series of galleries and vaulted rooms. Used as warehouses for weapons, cannonballs and gunpowder, through their tunnels soldiers were able to get out into the open without leaving the rampart undefended.
