The Monster. Pietro Pacciani: the second season of the series is set to film in Florence soon

Three new episodes directed by Stefano Sollima

Il Mostro: Pietro Pacciani is the title of the new installment of the miniseries created by Leonardo Fasoli and Stefano Sollima and produced by Wildside, a Fremantle Group company, in collaboration with AlterEgo. As with the first season, which was partially filmed in Tuscany in November 2023 (see the locations here), filming for the new chapter, already underway in Rome, will once again take place in Florence in the coming months.

In the three new episodes, directed by Sollima, the story of Italy’s most famous true-crime case expands, focusing on the “Compagni di merende” lead and, in particular, on Pietro Pacciani, the alleged Monster of Florence and prime suspect in the investigations into the eight double murders that terrorized all of Italy between 1968 and 1985.

A figure as much the subject of media scrutiny as he is mysterious, Pacciani was the central figure in a very lengthy trial full of twists and turns. The first season of the series, released in October 2025 and presented out of competition at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, ended precisely with the emergence of Pacciani’s name—a figure who will be central to the second season.
