The Tuscany motorway network has three major motorways:
- the A1 allows you reach Tuscany both from the North (Bologna, Milan) and from the South (Rome, Naples), and also allows you reach the cities throughout the region including Prato, Florence, and Arezzo.
- the A12 (Genoa - Rosignano) follows the Tyrrhenian coast linking the cities of Massa, Pisa and Leghorn with Liguria and Genoa.
- the A11 is the link between Florence (and the A1) with the Tyrrhenian corridor and the sea. It links the cities of Florence, Prato, Pistoia, and Lucca.
To move quickly around Tuscany, aside from the motorway network, you can also use the many freeways that link the major towns and cities. You have to pay tolls to use the Italian motorways and there are numerous service stations and restaurants, also with services for the disabled. The speed limit is 130 kms/h, unless otherwise indicated.
