DESCRIPTION

Piazza Grande in Arezzo, also known as Piazza Vasari, sits in the area which is home to the Roman forum. During the communal period, the piazza was a place of trade. In the 16th century, it was extended with the construction of Palazzo delle Logge, the design for which was drawn up by Vasari and completed in 1595. Its distinguishing feature is its trapezoidal shape, with a sloping surface. Piazza Grande is where the famous Saracen Joust takes place.
