Italian Golden Globes 2018: The Intruder wins Foreign Press Association award for Best Film

The Italian Foreign Press Association awarded Best Actor to Toni Servillo and Luca Marinelli, Best Actress to Paola Cortellesi, and Best Comedy to Love and Bullets

 

The Italian Foreign Press Association awarded the 2018 Golden Globe for Best Film to The Intruder  by Leonardo Di Costanzo, his second feature film co-produced by Italy, Switzerland and France.

The 58th edition of the awards ceremony – voted for by foreign journalists and hosted last night at the Villa Medici in Rome, saw the award for Best Actor go to both Toni Servillo in the role of inspector Vogel in La ragazza nella nebbia, and to Luca Marinelli in Rainbow – A Private Affair .

The award for Best Actress went to Paola Cortellesi, who, from the opening scenes of Like a Cat on a Highway, according to the jury, “provokes an immediate empathetic response in the viewer. Her sincere and sweet tone makes her one of the wittiest actresses in Italian cinema.”

Awards also went to Love and Bullets  by the Manetti Bros. (Best Comedy), The Place  by Paolo Genovese (Best Cinematography for Fabrizio Lucci) and Caravaggio: The Soul and the Blood  by Jesús Garcés Lambert (Best Documentary), while the award for Best Debut Film went to Maria per Roma  by Karen di Porto.

The Grand Prize went to L’esodo  by Cyrus Formisano and the Lifetime Achievement Golden Globe to Gianni Amelio.
